Flake Ice for Meat Processing and Seafood Chilling

An ice machine needs to keep pace with the way your factory uses ice. Some processors draw small quantities throughout the day. Others need several batches ready at the start of a shift.

Jinbowei flake ice machines produce thin flakes for ingredient cooling and seafood handling. In meat processing, measured quantities of ice can be added during bowl cutting or mixing to help manage temperature rise. For seafood, loose flakes can be distributed around fish during processing, holding and display.

The range starts at a rated output of 300 kg per day and extends to 8,000 kg per day. Available storage capacities vary by model, allowing production and holding capacity to be assessed separately.

Typical Applications

Sausage, Meatball and Meat Mixture Production

Bowl cutting and mixing generate heat. Flake ice can supply part of a recipe’s water while helping control the temperature of the mixture.

The required ice quantity depends on the formulation, incoming meat temperature, batch size and target discharge temperature. Size the ice machine against the actual ice requirement per batch and the number of batches produced each shift.

Seafood Processing and Display

Flake ice can be spread beneath and around fish for chilling during handling, temporary storage and display. Its loose form makes it practical to distribute across trays and containers.

Food Factories and Commercial Kitchens

The range can support food processors, central kitchens, hotels and supermarkets that need an on-site ice supply. Daily consumption, peak withdrawals and the time available for ice production all affect model selection.

Machine Design and Features

Stationary vertical evaporator
Ice forms on the inner wall of the evaporator. A rotating internal scraper removes the ice as flakes.

304 stainless steel construction
The equipment specification lists 304 stainless steel and automated argon arc welding. Confirm the material specification for individual assemblies during the quotation process.

Spiral ice scraper
The rotating scraper removes ice from the evaporator wall for collection in the storage bin.

Automatic operation and fault monitoring
The control system includes monitoring for conditions such as water shortage, reverse rotation, a full ice bin and high or low pressure. Fault indications help operators identify conditions requiring attention.

Air-cooled and water-cooled models
Models from 0.3T to 2T are listed as air-cooled. Models from 2.5T to 8T are listed as water-cooled. Check ventilation, cooling-water requirements, drainage and service access before installation.

The source specification lists 220V/380V for the 0.3T model without stating the phase or frequency. Confirm the required electrical configuration before ordering.

The supplied specification lists Danfoss compressors for 0.3T–2T models and Bitzer compressors for 2.5T–8T models. Final components are subject to the agreed order specification.

Rated output depends on operating conditions, including ambient and inlet-water temperatures. Listed power is an equipment rating and should not be treated as a measured energy-consumption figure.

Sizing an Ice Machine Around Your Production Schedule

Start with the amount of ice needed during your busiest production period.

If a factory uses 500 kg of ice during an eight-hour shift, a machine rated at 500 kg per 24 hours may require advance production and sufficient stored ice. The daily rating alone does not establish whether the machine can meet that shift’s demand.

For a suitable configuration, provide:

  • The application and product being processed.
  • Ice consumption per batch and per day.
  • Peak ice demand and production-shift length.
  • Available ice-making hours and required storage.
  • Site voltage, frequency and phase.
  • Installation space, water supply and drainage.
  • Destination country and shipping port.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can flake ice be added directly to meat mixtures?

Yes, when the ice is produced from water suitable for food production and handled hygienically. Include the ice in the recipe’s total water allowance and determine the quantity through your processing requirements.

What is the difference between ice output and storage capacity?

Output is the amount of ice a machine is rated to produce over 24 hours. Storage capacity is the amount the bin can hold. A factory with large, intermittent withdrawals may need substantial storage even when its total daily consumption is moderate.

Is a 220V model available?

The 0.3T model is listed with a 220V/380V supply specification. The remaining models are listed as 380V, three-phase, 50Hz. Confirm voltage, phase and frequency with us before selecting a machine.

Can the machine supply ice for a bowl cutter?

Yes. To size the system, calculate ice use per bowl-cutter batch, batches per shift and the time between batches. These figures help determine both ice-making capacity and storage requirements.

Which models are water-cooled?

The supplied range lists 2.5T, 3T, 5T and 8T models as water-cooled. Confirm the complete cooling-water arrangement and installation scope when requesting a quotation.
